Job Description


Objective:

Support the Financial Controller in the successful production of accurate and reliable management information, including management accounts, key performance indicators, trend and sector analysis together with other ad-hoc reports as required. To act as a Finance Business Partner and take responsibility for the accurate reporting of operational performance.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Review and control production of monthly management information in line with specified timetable across business units
  • Provide financial challenge and guidance to business units (BU) to ensure best practice is maintained on profit and turnover recognition in line with accounting standards and company policies
  • Close down month-ends accurately, and efficiently and to agreed accounting timetable
  • Ensure that all project CVR’s are completed on time, WIP is accurately reported and evidence additional monthly adjustments
  • In-depth review monthly business unit performance and providing sound commercial challenge to each of the Business Unit leads
  • Provide analysis on under-performing projects/contracts and report on any cash related variances between expected and collected cash
  • Review and challenge monthly profit forecasts from BU to ensure its reflective of known activity, current actuals and are robust in nature
  • Reconcile management accounts output with General Ledger on a monthly basis with any variances investigated and corrected
  • Assist the business units in closing out completed projects and ensuring there are no adverse impact on the business as a result.
  • Review and interpret BU overheads including relevant variance analysis received from financial accountant
  • Deliver various month-end, year-end, and ad-hoc reports
  • Contribute to the annual audit, statutory accounts production and tax computations
  • Contribute to the ongoing streamlining of Finance processes and procedures
  • Help in the training and development of other members of the Finance team
  • Ensure you are aware of local First Aiders, Welfare Provision and Emergency Procedures
  • Report and Record Near Miss situations
  • Ensure Good Housekeeping is maintained

Criteria:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting environment
  • Sound management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High Level of computer literacy
  • Good Excel skills
  • High personal quality standards
  • Pro active in resolving/tackling issues
  • Integrity
