J Tomlinson supports West Midlands educational gardening initiative

May 28, 2019

J Tomlinson is supporting a community horticultural initiative that is helping to enhance the local area and bring people together.

The construction, maintenance and refurbishment service partner has donated two large planters to Branston in Bloom, which is part of the ‘In Bloom’ federation of East Staffordshire.

The planters will reside at the new Henhurst Ridge Primary Academy, which was designed and constructed by J Tomlinson on behalf of Staffordshire County Council last year. The planters will be maintained by pupils with the support and guidance of teaching staff, helping children learn the therapeutic, aesthetic and environmental benefits of gardening.

In addition, J Tomlinson has donated £200, which will be used to purchase compost and bedding plants. The planters and cheque were presented within the school’s vast grounds to a selection of Branston in Bloom representatives and Henhurst Ridge Primary Academy pupils.

Darroch Baker, managing director of the company’s construction division, commented: “At J Tomlinson, we’re extremely passionate about benefitting our local communities. We are pleased to support this excellent initiative, which is both educationally and environmentally beneficial to the local area.”

Charlotte Hopkins, headteacher at Henhurst Ridge Primary Academy, added: “We are delighted to have been presented with the planters and the generous donation of £200. It will help us to be able to participate in Branston in Bloom to a high standard. Huge thanks to J Tomlinson.”

Kay Lear, clerk at Branston in Bloom, commented: “We are thankful to J Tomlinson for their kind donations, which will help us to continue to support the school.”
