Project Background
Nottinghamshire-based Linney Group is a marketing solutions provider with a heritage of over 165 years.
Three years after working with J Tomlinson’s construction
and engineering teams to develop a new design studio
in Mansfield, Linney appointed J Tomlinson to manage
construction of a new, purpose-built warehouse which
would act as the company’s main distribution centre and
accommodate its expanding client base.
This 100,000 sq. ft. design and build project included
creation of a two-storey mezzanine of office space, a service
yard with loading bays and a dock leveller, and a car park.
J Tomlinson's Approach
Energy efficient design
J Tomlinson worked closely with Linney throughout the project to maximise the energy efficiency of the new building, including implementation of LED lighting throughout, as well as installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the new car park to help Linney encourage greener travel for its staff and visitors in line with its wider climate pledge.
Continued relationship with client
The new distribution centre marks the second project J Tomlinson undertook in partnership with Linney, following design and construction of the company’s design studio in 2016. A high degree of client and logistical knowledge was instrumental to the smooth delivery of the project.
On time and budget completion
Regular meetings with Linney were instrumental in enabling J Tomlinson to work alongside Linney’s existing live building operations whilst minimising disruption.
The development, which was completed both on time and budget, compromises a reception area, employee changing facilities, an open plan admin and office area connecting directly onto the warehouse and loading bays, pick and pack facilities and supporting ancillary spaces.
Project Achievements
- ON TIME & BUDGET COMPLETION – Aided by transparent communication and a collaborative, ‘one team’ approach
- LIVE WORKING ENVIRONMENT - our careful and considerate approach ensured minimal disruption to Linney’s daily operations whilst the new development was being created
- 2ND PROJECT UNDERTAKEN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CLIENT - marking a successful, long-term relationship based on transparency and consistently high quality delivery of works
- ENERGY-EFFICIENT DESIGN - maximised by the installation of LED lighting throughout the new development
- SUPPORTING THE LOCAL ECONOMY - Up to 100 new jobs were created following completion of the development, helping to boost the local economy
