J Tomlinson and Futures Housing Group team up to spread festive joy across Derbyshire
January 11, 2021
In the weeks before Christmas, J Tomlinson teamed up with long-term client, Futures Housing Group, to undertake our annual joint Christmas donation “expedition”, spanning Derbyshire-based food banks, churches, schools, and more.
Taking place over the course of a week, the following donations were made by the two parties, comprising supermarket vouchers and cash:
- Copthorne Community Infants School - £200
- Crich Church of England Infants School - £200
- Alfreton Nursey School - £200
- The Salvation Army, Ripley and Somercotes Corp - £1000
- Sal Care Heanor - £500
- South Normanton Food Bank - £500
- Baptist Church Belper – £250
- St Andrews Church Food Bank, Langley Mill - £500
The Salvation Army’s Ripley and Somercotes Corp used the funds to support their annual Christmas goodwill campaign, which saw them providing over 109 families with 225 children with food and gifts during the festive period. On hand to assist with delivery was the local fire and rescue team, who helped ensure everything was distributed in time for the Christmas period.
A spokesperson for the Salvation Army said: “On behalf of the Salvation Army – Ripley and Somercotes Corps, l would like to say thank you for your kind donation of £1000.00 in support of our Christmas Goodwill campaign 2020.
“As you will appreciate, 2020 has been a challenging year for our society and the Salvation Army has done its best to support our local community and vulnerable children not just during the Christmas season but throughout the year.”
Futures Housing Group provides more than 10,000 affordable homes throughout the East Midlands, including over 6,000 homes in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and around 3,000 homes in Northamptonshire.
J Tomlinson has worked with Futures since 2005, undertaking maintenance and servicing of FHG’s boilers at over 6,000 homes across Derbyshire, including Amber Valley and Erewash.
In addition, the company’s low carbon building and maintenance division has undertaken a range of air source heat pump installation projects in partnership with Futures, replacing inefficient oil-fired and storage heating across Derbyshire-based properties including flats, bungalows, and houses. As well as supporting Futures’ commitment to sustainability and decarbonisation, switching to renewable energy is helping to tackle fuel poverty by providing residents with a reliable, efficient clean source of energy at a significantly lower cost.
For the past 3 years, both organisations have joined forces to donate to local charities, clubs, and schools in line with a shared commitment to reinvesting in and enhancing their local communities.
Steve Kirkland, managing director (R&M and FM), commented: “At J Tomlinson, we believe firmly in the power of strong partnerships, and the benefits these can bring amongst local communities. We have had the pleasure of working with Futures Housing Group for over fifteen years now, and we are so pleased to be able to once again support local groups and organisations that mean a great deal the communities we work within – especially during these challenging times.”
Jason Topley, gas surveyor at Futures, added: “We’ve worked with J Tomlinson for many years to ensure access for gas servicing throughout our properties. This successful partnership has ensured we have completed our annual service inspections on time and consistently, year on year.
“After a very testing 2020, it gives us great pleasure to give back to the local areas where we have worked to ensure safety in our homes - for many of us where we have spent more time than we ever could have expected.
“The great work these organisations do to ensure families around Derbyshire and surrounding area have access to help and support throughout difficult times is crucial.”
