J Tomlinson completes first scheme for leading care provider

December 12, 2017

The Regeneration team at J Tomlinson has recently completed their first scheme for leading care provider Housing & Care 21.

This is the first project the integrated building services company has undertaken as part of a five-year elemental replacement contract with Housing & Care 21, which is due to complete in 2022. The £225k scheme involved the replacement of baths with walk‐in showers within 37 tenant properties and three communal areas at sheltered housing development Dennis Potter Court, and took just over two months to complete.

Housing & Care 21 is a leading provider of affordable retirement housing and care services for people aged 65 and above. Based in Wythall, West Midlands, Dennis Potter Court is one of over 400 retirement schemes that the not‐for‐profit organisation provides across the country. The development comprises a range of onsite communal facilities for residents, including a lounge, kitchen, laundry room, guest room and lift. A 24‐hour emergency call system and court manager service help provide peace‐of‐mind for tenants, whilst helping to support independent living.

Court Manager, Pam Hughes, commented: “By upgrading tenants’ bathrooms with walk‐in showers, we are able to further support independent living for older people in line with our own aims and values. Our residents are over‐the‐moon with their modernised facilities, and we are really pleased with the quality of the installations. We look forward to our continued partnership with J
Tomlinson.”

Antony Newton, Regeneration Director at J Tomlinson, commented: “There is a distinct lack of age-appropriate, independent properties in the UK, and we are delighted to work with Housing & Care 21 to help address this issue. We are extremely pleased that tenants are happy with their new showers.”
