J Tomlinson shortlisted for Constructing Excellence Award
October 17, 2019
J Tomlinson is pleased to have been announced a finalist in the 2019 Constructing Excellence Awards, which celebrate innovation and collaboration in the construction industry.
The construction, refurbishment and maintenance specialist is up for the ‘Health, Safety & Wellbeing’ title and will be representing the East Midlands region on the night.
The shortlisting follows J Tomlinson’s success at the East Midlands Celebrating Construction Awards in March, where the company took home the Health and Safety title following significant strides made in health and safety management, including a considerable reduction in accidents compared to the past year, the expansion of its centralised SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) team, and the introduction of an employer-funded Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).
J Tomlinson’s commitment to health and safety excellence
Richard Ball, Head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) at J Tomlinson, commented: “Health and safety is ingrained in J Tomlinson’s company culture, and we are proud to have been recognised for our commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our staff, clients and customers alike. The company has experienced considerable growth over the last year, and we are proud to support and sustain this development via a health and safety culture that is both preventative and caring in line with J Tomlinson’s One Team ethos.
“The company has introduced a team of Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) to help support mental wellbeing across the company and beyond by providing initial support to anyone experiencing emotional issues. J Tomlinson is committed to removing the stigma around emotional wellbeing by encouraging staff and subcontractors to talk to someone they trust about any worries or troubles they may be experiencing.”
“Furthermore, we have developed a wellbeing programme that focuses on a different aspect of physical and emotional wellbeing each quarter and is specifically designed to promote healthy lifestyles and happiness.”
The C E National Awards will be held on Friday 8th November at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, where over 500 built environment professionals across the UK and Wales will come together to celebrate the UK’s flourishing built environment.
J Tomlinson, which was founded in Nottingham the 1950s, works primarily across the Midlands, Yorkshire and Northern and Central England.
The company provides a range of sustainable building solutions including refurbishment, repairs and maintenance, engineering services, extra care construction, renewable energy, and facilities management, working across a range of key sectors including extra care, healthcare, blue light, social housing and local government.
