J Tomlinson supports staff with employee assistance programme

February 20, 2019

J Tomlinson has introduced a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to help support its growing team of employees.

The Midlands-based refurbishment, maintenance and construction services partner, which currently employs around 500 people, recently implemented the programme with a view to providing a free, accessible support network for individuals and their families.

The programme, created by health and wellbeing network, Health Assured, is an employee-funded benefit that provides unlimited support through confidential counselling with qualified professionals, and access to a wide range of peer-reviewed tools and resources designed to enhance physical and emotional wellbeing.

The service covers a selection of personal and professional issues, including bereavement, general health advice, financial advice, childcare support, housing concerns, legal information, and drug and alcohol problems. The service can be accessed via telephone, live chat, email or face-to-face, or through the programme’s own Health e-Hub mobile app.

Mark Davis, chief executive at J Tomlinson, commented: “I have always said that our people are our greatest asset – and as such, it is important that they feel supported by J Tomlinson in both their professional and personal lives.”

“We hope that this newly-introduced employee service will encourage more people to talk openly about any challenges they may be facing; in turn helping to reduce stress, improve wellbeing, and collectively remove the stigma so commonly associated with mental health. I feel this is particularly key for the building industry, where the ‘muddy boots’ perception is still all too prevalent.”

J Tomlinson, which was founded in the 1950s, provides a range of integrated building solutions including construction, refurbishment, repairs and maintenance, mechanical and electrical services (M&E), and facilities management, and works across all major sectors, including healthcare, social housing, student accommodation, commercial and industrial.

As well as its head office at Beeston near Nottingham, the company has two main regional offices in Canwell in the West Midlands and in Wakefield, Yorkshire.
