National Apprenticeship Week 2022
February 8, 2022
In the spirit of National Apprenticeship Week 2022, J Tomlinson’s Head of HR, Heidi Cokayne, answers some of our most frequently asked questions about apprenticeships.
Q1. Do you have to be 18 to be an apprentice?
Not at all - we take apprentices at any age and many of our apprentices have been in the workplace for many years.
Q2. How will I know what to do at work?
You will mentored by your manager and given daily and weekly tasks that you will need to complete. Full training will be provided.

Q3. What can I do after an apprenticeship?
A3. You are able to continue with your studies; many apprenticeships now go up to Level 7 (postgraduate degree level), and we have several employees who are completing their degree through us.

Q4. When would I attend college?
A4. You will attend either once a week or block release (i.e. four full weeks) depending on your qualification.
