Here are just some of the faces that make up the J Tomlinson team… 

David Adams

Executive Chairman

David is a Chartered Accountant who acquired J Tomlinson in 1995 and has since overseen its development into a multidisciplinary service provider. As Executive Chairman, David works alongside the board overseeing all aspects of the business. David enjoys spending time with his family and raising money for charity. In 2016 he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for the Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre.

Mark Davis

Chief Executive

Mark joined J Tomlinson in 2014, bringing with him many years’ experience working in the built environment at board level. He is passionate about developing the business through its people and aspires to build senior management teams within each division. Outside of work, Mark is a keen sportsman, enjoys playing cricket and keeping fit.

Darroch Baker

Managing Director - Construction

Darroch joined J Tomlinson in 2018 and is responsible for managing the company's construction division harnessing his extensive industry knowledge and experience. In his spare time, Darroch enjoy playing rugby and tennis, and spending time with his two daughters.

Steve Kirkland

Managing Director - Repairs & Maintenance/FM

Steve began his career working as a pipefitter and welder. He has 40 years’ industry experience and heads up our Repairs and Maintenance and Facilities Management teams, with a passion for Health and Safety. Outside of work Steve enjoys keeping active, running and taking part in marathons.

Antony Newton

Regeneration Director

Antony heads up our Regeneration team, joining J Tomlinson in 2016 he quickly became Regeneration Director. Ant has over 24 years’ experience in the construction industry with an extensive commercial background. Ant is a keen Manchester United supporter and plays very average golf.

Ian Adams

Technical Sales Director

Ian has developed significant technical experience over his 30-year career in building services engineering and project management. Having previously worked for J Tomlinson in the 90s, Ian re-joined our team in 2018 to develop our commercial HVAC capability. Outside of work Ian has a young family and is chairman of a local cycling club.

Andrew Nolan

Group Finance Director

Andrew is a qualified accountant with 15 years’ industry experience, including 11 years working in practice with key construction clients for a ‘Big Four’ accountancy firm and 4 years as a Regional Finance Director for a large housing developer. Outside of the office, Andrew enjoys spending time with his young family, playing golf, watching football, and supporting Bradford City.

Jim Hardie

Construction Manager

Jim began his career as a Site Engineer working his way up through Project Management of various multi-faceted schemes to the position of Construction Manager, overseeing projects across the Midlands and Yorkshire. He enjoys holidaying abroad, watching Nottingham Forest, and spending time with his family.

Iain Davies

Managing Director - Refurbishment & Engineering

Iain joined the J Tomlinson team in 2020, and is a qualified Quantity Surveyor with over 30 years of construction experience under his belt. Over the course of his career, he has amassed extensive experience in main contracting, specialist supply chain and joint venture projects. In his spare time Iain enjoys windsurfing and coastal sailing, and follows the Leicester Tigers rugby club.

Ian West

Operations Manager

Ian has extensive experience working with local governments and in the built environment with over 30 years’ experience. Ian joined J Tomlinson as part of our Regeneration team working on our planned housing refurbishments. Ian is very family orientated, a keen football fan and enjoys going spinning.

Lindsey Mills

Business Development Manager

Lindsey joined J Tomlinson in 2016 to work with our Social Housing and Facilities Management teams. Lindsey joins us with many years’ experience working with other leading housing and public sector contractors. Away from work Lindsey enjoys spending time with her family.

Dave Fisher

Operations Manager

Dave is a Gas Engineer by trade and has worked his way up to become Operations Manager for our Repairs & Maintenance and Facilities Management divisions. Outside of work Dave is a black belt who swims Lake Windermere every year for Kidney Research UK. He also competed at the National Transplant Games 2016.

Andrea Jones

Business Development Manager

Andrea oversees business development opportunities for both construction and refurbishment across the Midlands and Yorkshire. Outside of work Andrea enjoys going to the gym and watching her son perform at gigs.

Tony Shenton

Managing Director - Care

Tony joined J Tomlinson in autumn 2020 with over thirty years’ experience working with tier 1 contractors operating across the public and private sectors. His considerable knowledge and expertise spans a range of specialist sectors, including health and extra care, education and light industrial. Outside of work, Tony enjoys spending time with his partner and two children, and is a keen sailor.

Richard Ball

Head of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality

Richard joined J Tomlinson Ltd in 2016 and bases his approach to health & safety, environmental and technical compliance from his previous operational and compliance experience across a broad scope of construction experience gained from 30 years working in the public and private sector. Outside of work Richard remains a committed family person and enjoys anything sports-related.

Tom Sowerby

Head of Bids

Entering J Tomlinson at graduate level, Tom has progressed to the role of Head of Bids. Tom has experience listening to clients across a breadth of sectors, including social housing, education, emergency services and councils, producing bespoke proposals in response. When he’s not typing away, Tom enjoys playing sports including football, hockey and running.
