J Tomlinson was appointed by St. Modwen to manage the design and build of Mease Spencer Academy - a new, single-storey primary school in Hilton, Derbyshire.
Following successful delivery of their Sutton Coldfield care home, J Tomlinson was appointed by Hamberley Development to manage and deliver another specialist care scheme in Cumnor, Oxfordshire.
In 2018, J Tomlinson was appointed by Hortons’ to manage the design and build of Asparagus Point, a 54,450 sq. ft. industrial development which would become the newest addition to Vale Park industrial estate in Evesham.
J Tomlinson was appointed to manage the refurbishment of the University Of Sheffield's Ella Armitage Building, formerly known as the Sheffield Bioincubator. Works included the creation of new working and teaching spaces through the sub-division of existing rooms, installation of new doors and frames, as well as the relocation of gas pipework to accommodate the new laboratory spaces.
J Tomlinson was appointed by St Modwen to manage and deliver the design and construction of nine structural steel portal frame industrial units on a former factory site near Dursley town centre, in support of a new, mixed-use regeneration scheme in the area.
After securing a place on Leicester City Council Construction Framework in April 2018, J Tomlinson was appointed to undertake the complete refurbishment, remodelling and fit-out of a disused unit in the Haymarket Shopping Centre, which would become the city’s new base for the provision of sexual health treatment and advice.

J Tomlinson was successful in securing the design, supply and installation works for the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services on the new West Bromwich Building Society Head Office in West Bromwich. The building society was looking for a reliable and sustainable solution that would provide back-up in the event of a power outage.
J Tomlinson was successful in securing the design and installation of the Mechanical and Electrical services for the Kings School's newly-built Keyes Building. The aim of the project was to create healthy, enjoyable, low-energy and sustainable learning environment which would help pupils and staff develop and fulfil their potential.
The Lower Coxmoor external wall insulation project was delivered to 36 hard-to-heat bungalows in Nottinghamshire. The scheme saw J Tomlinson and Asdhfield District Council work together to help reducing tenants’ heating bills and minimise carbon emissions.
Queens Hospital required a complete refurbishment of its Orthopaedics and A&E wards, as well as some additional offices outside of the ward. J Tomlinson’s previous experience of successfully delivering a wide range of refurbishment projects to the healthcare sector meant that the company was selected to undertake the required works on behalf of Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Since its creation in 1976, Haddon Primary School had been confined to one level, with the classrooms separated by curtains resulting in an open-plan design which was noisy and not conducive to learning.
To enhance the learning experience for students, J Tomlinson was appointed to deliver a refurbishment scheme that would include permanent classrooms and a new sports hall.
King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton in Ashfield serves the population of the Mansfield Urban Area.
J Tomlinson was engaged by Skanska to undertake the full, energy efficient M&E Services for the 7-storey Tower 3 and 2-storey Women’s and Children’s Services.
J Tomlinson was appointed to undertake over £4m of refurbishment work across two University of Warwick accommodation blocks. It was critical to the university that works were completed in adherence to a 10-week fast-track programme in time for the new term.
In 2017, J Tomlinson was appointed by the AC Lloyd to construct a new 17,500 sq. ft. steel-framed and metal clad warehouse and showroom facility, which had been pre-let to builders' merchants, MKM.
In 2015, J Tomlinson was appointed to carry out more than £30m worth of improvements to Ashfield District Council's housing stock – the company’s largest ever single contract. The work includes replacing kitchens, bathrooms, central heating systems, electrical installations, roof coverings, windows and external doors. It also includes scope to undertake other improvement works to benefit tenants’ homes and their surroundings, including carbon and environmental efficiency saving measures.
The University of Nottingham identified a pressing need for the redevelopment of its Portland Building, with a particular focus on improving the building’s flexibility, functionality, and comfort.
The project was split into four phases, with J Tomlinson being appointed to undertake phases two and three of the project, as well as landscaping.
In line with their commitment to tacking fuel poverty for residents, Bromford was looking for a suitable, more sustainable heating solution for a range of off-gas bungalows and terraced homes across two of their sites in Shropshire.
Utilising J Tomlinson’s past experience of installing heating systems to off-gas network properties, a communal Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) scheme was deemed to be the most sustainable, cost-efficient option.
In 2017, J Tomlinson was appointed on a five-year elemental heating and bathroom replacement framework with Housing & Care 21, which is due to expire in 2022. The framework covers both East and West Midlands, and has so far seen J Tomlinson working across schemes in Loughborough, Worcestershire and Nottinghamshire.
Since 2016, J Tomlinson has been employed by Nottingham City Homes to undertake major maintenance works as part of an ongoing Planned Maintenance programme. The scope of works is immensely varied and includes major structural projects, roofing, underpinning, and more.
Since 2015, J Tomlinson has undertaken kitchen, bathroom installations, rewires and associated pre-survey works as the primary contractor working on behalf of Midland Heart. Working across the West Midlands, our team operates in Dudley, Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton
In 2018, The Riverside Group appointed J Tomlinson to undertake kitchen and bathroom replacements/conversions across over 200 properties across Leicester, Stoke, Kettering and Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
After acquiring the Steel Park Trading Estate in Wednesfield, Goold Estates wanted to develop approximately 70,000 sq. ft of high quality industrial/warehouse units on the land, which would then be commercially sold on or let. Following a comprehensive tender process, J Tomlinson was selected as the main contractor on the project.
In 2014, J Tomlinson was selected as Derwent Living's contracting partner. This long-term partnering contract covers cyclical property improvements across Derwent Living’s housing stock spread across West Midlands, Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire; covering a range of property types, including non-traditional, listed, medium-rise and high-rise dwellings.
J Tomlinson work closely with Bolsover District Council to provide a complete facilities management service covering planned, reactive and project works tailored to their operational requirements.
Following its significant growth, marketing solutions provider, Linney, required the development of a new design studio, comprising large open plan offices and access to a roof terrace on the first floor, with meeting, presentation, studio, and editing facilities on the ground floor with feature staircase. The project also included new car parking, landscaping and an integrated café facility.
With more than 60 years’ experience of working in the heritage sector, J Tomlinson was selected to support the museum's redevelopment project and deliver a range of improvements to the visitor experience - helping the attraction to launch the latest chapter in its history.
J Tomlinson was appointed to undertake the design and build of Dunelm’s new 23,000 sq. ft. Nottingham branch, along with additional landscaping works, including a large public car park and external lighting.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service required a new base to reflect the needs of a modern station. The London Road fire station was proposed to provide energy efficiency, an excellent location for emergency call outs and additional office space for Nottingham City Council’s Emergency Planning Team.
Keele University - officially known as the University of Keele - is a public research university located in Staffordshire, England. J Tomlinson was successfully appointed to undertake the total refurbishment of a research laboratory located on the first storey of the Lennard-Jones building, which had to be complete in time for the new academic year.
Successfully appointed by WMAS in 2015, J Tomlinson was contracted to provide planned and reactive maintenance works across 90 Community Ambulance Stations.
As a unitary authority, it was important to the council that the chosen contractor place residents at the forefront of its activities, incorporating local communities and minimal disruption into its solution.
Located on Hundred Acre Lane in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, A1 Housing are currently working towards the Governments Decent Homes programme. J Tomlinson were successful in securing the design and installation of the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services including renewable technologies, for a new school building at the privately funded, King’s School in Worcester.
Established in 1991 by the University of Nottingham, the clinic was making great progress studying the science of IVF, along with research into new treatments. This led to Nurture being named as the most successful clinic in the Midlands in 2008.
Following the successful award of grant money from the European Regional Development Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund, Culture Coventry was able to proceed with plans to redevelop Coventry Transport Museum and Old Grammar School.
The GE Measurement and Control site at Groby in Leicestershire underwent a major refurbishment following a fire at the premises in 2014. The £2.4 million office refurbishment was a joint delivery between J Tomlinson’s construction division and our M&E services team.
Starbank School was originally founded as a primary school. However, in 2014, in response to a demand for places, Starbank became an ‘all-through’ school, for which a new building was built on Hob Moor Road.
J Tomlinson were appointed by Thomas Vale Construction as a partner to complete the full Mechanical and Electrical design and installation works throughout the new school, which would house both primary and secondary school students.

Trent & Dove required a partner to deliver ground source heat pumps to 193 of their rural, off-gas properties comprising 1-2 bed bungalows, which were being heated by night storage heaters.
Trent & Dove - an organisation passionate about combating fuel poverty - wanted to replace the heaters with install ground source heat pumps (GSHP), a retrofit heating upgrade that would minimise fuel emissions, keep residents warm, and reduce costs.

This refurbishment and alterations project involved the cinema securing Arts Council NPO funding to create a space where the digital and creative industries can collaborate together to drive skill development, employment opportunities and subsequently economic growth.
Barnsley College were successful in securing funding from the Skills Funding Agency’s (SFA) College Capital Investment Fund (CCIF) to enable £4million of upgrades to its award-winning sport and public services facilities.
The scope included full refurbishment of the care home and associated facilities. Major internal works were required, including decorations, floor coverings, heating system replacement and enlargement of the reception area.
The Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust Intensive Support Service Unit (ISSU) comprises a purpose built, state-of-the-art eight bed inpatient unit, including two self-contained step down flats, as well as a number of clinical and activity rooms which can be used by the community and bed-based service users.

The project comprised of the refurbishment of the Bestwood Housing Office, including demolition and alterations, new internal works, external works, signage, mechanical and electrical works and refurbishment of the existing areas.

Promens Packaging in Lowestoft develops plastic packaging for medical, personal care, chemical, household and food markets. The UK’s largest solar energy developer, Lightsource Renewable Energy Limited, approached Promens with a PV proposal to improve its carbon footprint and green credentials and also to reduce energy costs at its plant in North Suffolk.
The Parker E-ACT Academy is a co-educational non-denominational Academy based in Daventry, Northamptonshire. The Academy admits students aged between 11 and 18.
Following a competitive tender process J Tomlinson was appointed as main contractor to work on the final phase of improvement works throughout Vision West Nottinghamshire College, including the six storey tower, the bridge to the six storey tower, the Enviro Block, the three storey tower, the Trades Building, the Learning Resource Centre, the Sherwood Building and the ‘Number 19’ building.
English Heritage exists to help people understand, value, care for and enjoy England's unique heritage, and are best known for looking after the National Heritage Collection of historic sites and monuments. One of their sites is Brodsworth Hall, an unique visitor attraction in South Yorkshire, where English Heritage required a new visitor centre.

The new St Oswald's Hospital, in Ashbourne, was designed specifically to manage the increase in the local elderly population and their medical needs. The overall project was worth £20million and consisted of a 7,000 square metre 3 storey building housing a health centre and 24 bed community hospital
King's Mill Hospital, Sutton in Ashfield serves the towns in the Mansfield Urban Area. Sherwood Forest Hospitals recently undertook a £320 million modernisation of Acute Services which saw a large reconstruction of the existing site.
In 2010, the University of Nottingham invested £10 million to create a new Engineering and Science Teaching and Learning Centre in response to the high demand for student study space, and to enhance its student experience.
J Tomlinson was appointed by main contractor, Mansell Construction, to provide full M&E installations as part of the project. Creating energy efficient, sustainable building was a critical consideration for the university, and the project required that the finished building achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating incorporating coordinated, efficient M&E Services.
The Retail Trust is a charity providing residential services for retired retail workers. In line with their strategic property plan, the Trust appointed J Tomlinson to undertake the construction and fit out of an additional Extra Care facility and full refurbishment of a number of Grade 2 listed and heritage buildings and cottages across its Leylands complex.
Leicester City Council originally planned a new primary school for 450 pupils to replace the existing Taylor Primary School; however, the capacity of the new building was expanded to 700 after the Government organisation Sure Start estimated there would be more than 1,000 primary school children living in the catchment area by 2010
